How to find the best deals at the thrift store
/I love thrifting. I have purchased so many things for myself and my home from the thrift store over the years. Today I wanted to share a few tips that have led to thrift success.
Know before you go
Go into the store with an idea of what you’re looking for. So easy to walk in the thrift store and go crazy because things are so inexpensive. Don’t do that just because something is cheap or on sale does that mean that you need it.
Go in the middle of the week.
People usually drop things off at a thrift store over the weekend and this gives employees plenty of time to sort and get things on the shelves. So you’ll get a new crop of ideas and opportunities to look through.
Smell test. If you’re buying a garment pick it up and smell it. 🤣 if it smells like cigarette smoke, or too much perfume or mold- PUT IT BACK. There are certain things you just can’t get out.
Dress to try on
Dress ready to try on clothes in the aisle. I wear leggings and a tank top under tunic so that way if I need to try on shirts in the aisle II am modest and covered or I can slip on a skirt or jeans over my leggings.
Know the deals.
My local Goodwill has coupon days and dollar days. I know dollar days will be crazy and so I go in knowing what to expect. But if I’m trying to stock up on certain things like kids clothing those are the days I’m going to go.
Go across town
If you want fancy, go to the fancy neighborhood. I have scored some cheap fantastic brands by going to a neighboring town and shopping at their thrift store.
