My favorite children's books (kindergarten age)

Happy Read Across America Day! What a fun way to get kids reading and loving reading. I remember in the second grade my teacher writing D.E.A.R on the chalkboard and then yelling "DROP EVERYTHING AND READ!"

So today I wanted to share some of my favorite books to read to my kids. These are great for kids around kindergarten age.

1. A Bear Called Paddington.

I love the sweet story of this lovable bear. This is the first chapter book I read Ryals and we both loved it. We've since seen both movies (which we also loved).

2. The Napping House.

This book is so soothing to read. It has a lot of repetition and is a great book for emerging readers. Plus it's a great book to read when it's time to wind down.

3. The Day the Crayons Quit.

A friend from church suggested this one and it's hilarious. It's a story about a bunch of disgruntled crayons who air their many grievances.

4. When Charlie McButton Lost His Power.

This is a wonderful book written by Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games, but don't worry. It's for small children. It's about a technology addicted boy who one day loses electricity and has to remember his true priorities. Trust me. Adults can relate too.

Also, here is a list of 100 books to help you become inspired to read.
