When a walk in the park isn't a walk in the park + $15 PayPal cash giveaway

What's in our park bag.jpg

It started out innocent enough. I announced "let's go to the park" and in their excitement my two sweet boys proceeded to lose their minds.

As I convinced Ryals, my three-and-a-half-year-old that yes, he did have to brush his teeth and he did have to use the potty (three year olds really know how to put up a fight) my two year old, Isaac, was dumping out an entire box of cereal onto the floor.

Then as I was putting Ryals' shoes on Isaac decided it would be fun to roll around in the cereal and then pick it off piece by piece and eat it off his own clothes.

Clearly taking two kids to the park is no walk in the park.

I get one boy settled to get his shoes one while the other one climbs on the stools in the kitchen and dumps a cup of coffee on the floor.

Once I get that little boy down and the mess cleaned up my other boy has run into the bathroom and smeared toothpaste in his hair. I am truly outnumbered here, people. And while I love my life as a stay at home mom, it ain't always pretty.

How do get through the day? Coffee and grace, my dear friend, coffee and grace. And the knowledge that I will have a short snack all to myself.

I always pack a little treat for myself to indulge in at the park. Just for mom.

Once I get the kids to the park I like to treat myself to a little extra sweetness. This week I packed a homemade iced coffee and some Fiber One Cheesecake Bars. I picked up a couple boxes BOGO at Publix this week.

The salted caramel variety taste so yummy and I get to  indulge my sweet tooth without feeling totally guilty because they have 5 grams of fiber and only 150 calories.

It's nice to sit on a park bench, under a shade tree and "indulge my cheesecake instincts." I like to pair them with a homemade iced coffee.

What are some other things I pack in our park bag?

1. Water.

It is HOT in South Alabama it was 95 today with 97% humidity. So my little guys need some hydration at the park. I make sure to pack their squeeze bottles filled with ice water.

Tip: If you put a sock around the water bottle it will stay cold way longer.

2. Sun protection.

I have sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses that I pack for the boys. I want to make sure their little faces and shoulders stay protected from potential sun damage.

3. A change of clothes.

Accidents happen. So I make sure both my boys has a clean tshirt and a fresh pair of shorts.

4. Hygiene and safety.

I throw in some hand sanitizer because while I am not a germaphobe, let's face it, the park bathroom can sometimes be sketchy.

I also include a first aid kit. You can see how to make your own from a discarded drink container.

5. Things to share.

I also include bubbles or sidewalk chalk and other small things for the boys to share with friends.

And I always bring extra snacks, like the  Fiber One Cheesecake Bars to share with other moms who look just as exhausted as I do after lugging two active boys to the park.

It's your turn to win.

Publix would love for you to try out the new Fiber One Cheesecake Bars. So they are giving away $15 PayPal cash and coupons.

Check out the bars and then leave a comment telling me what what flavor you would prefer.
