I did a little cheer when I saw that my local thrift store was accepting donations again. If sheltering at home these last few months has taught me nothing else (and it’s taught me a LOT) I have too much stuff in my house.

I wanted to share a few things I am eager to toss, donate, sell or just get rid of.

Broken tech.

My husband is upgrading his phone and will need to dispose of this old phone.

Please don’t junk your phones, for a couple of reasons. The first, phones are highly pollutant. Second, it could actually be worth something.

If you’re looking for a quick way to make some extra cash consider Trademore. Trademore is a great place to trade in- meaning sell old phones, tablets and smartwatches.

I simply searched their site, found the phone I was looking to sell, put in some specs about what kind of condition it was in and then they made me an offer.  Once they give you an offer you are locked in for 30 days. They send you a box in the mail to package it up with prepaid postage you mail it in and then they send you your money in the form of a virtual Mastercard or a Paypal payment.

Visit Trademore.com and figure out how much your phone is worth just by using the “How much is my phone worth?” page.

Baby clothes

I get a little emotional every time my kids outgrow something. But it is life. I actually keep a diaper box in each bedroom and as I notice they have outgrown something, I toss it in the box. Then I go through it quickly and decide if I know someone I can donate the items to directly, if they need to go to the thrift store or if I can sell it as consignment.

Books

I love books. I read a lot of books. My kids read a lot of books. But we can’t keep them all. You can donate them to the library, but I also like to trade them at our local used book store. I will trade them for new books that I know my kids will want to read our and over.

Clothes you don’t love

We all have something in our closet we are hanging onto out of guilt. Let it go. Maybe you bought it thinking you would lose weight. Maybe you bought it because you wanted to try a trend. Maybe it looked great in the store but when you got home you just didn’t like it and you never returned it.

Let it go.

The mistake was already made when you purchased the item. Holding on to it won’t undo that. Just release it and move on. You can use a site like Poshmark or Mercari to sell it, or you can hand it over to a friend or a worthy organization like dress for success. I’d love to know what you are getting out of your house! Leave me a comment and tell me.
